Honey on trees:

Why did I decide to do this shoot?

I did this shoot as I thought that it would be a nice one to tie everything together. I wanted to try a similar shoot to what I did with the honey and PVA shoot but outside this time, on trees. This meant however that I had to use an organic substance, so I chose honey. Again I didn't want to make the mistake of not having any color so I dyed the honey, with food coloring. This also meant that the compositions would be more interesting.

I am really happy with this shoot. I haven't really done a shoot that I've been proud of in a while, so I was incredibly pleased when I looked over the photos. As mentioned in my statement of intent, I planned to do the shoot in my local woods, using honey that I coloured previously using food dye. Which is something that I didn't think would work well. I managed to get a deep red, blue and green by using the food dye to change the colour of the honey. Due to this I managed to get lots of colour in the photographs.

When it came to finding a location in the woods, it was quite difficult to find somewhere. However after searching for a while I found some over handing branches in front of bluebells, which I though would act as a nice background. Then after setting up my tripod, I was ready to go. Although I didn't end up using it that much as I wanted to get close up to the branches and the tripod stop me from doing that (it was on a bit of a hill).

In terms camera settings ISO was at 100 as I was outside. The shutter speed was around 1/25 as it was quite cloudy outside, so I needed lots of light. This actually caused a problem as most of my images were blurry but in spite of this, I still managed to achieve some beautiful photography. Aperture was small again as I was taking close up photographs and wanted everything in focus.
