House Magazine Contents Page Analysis:

Main Images:

The contents page is spread over two pages with two main images, one on either page. The first image represents the lifestyle and clubbing culture. The clothes that the young women is wearing suggest that the target audience is around 18-25 year olds. The actual image itself is very appealing due to the bright colours/the young model and it portrays the clubbing atmosphere as a positive experience. This provides the audience with a sense of escapism (Young and Rubicam's 4C's) and it makes them them wants to experince the positive clubber vibe, themselves. This in turn attracts them to read the article that this is refernce to, to become a part of the experience.

The second of main images, shows DJ Duke Dumont, in an unusual setting. Normally DJ's are seen performing in images or have connentations that link to their profession around them. This image has niether of these things. It contradicts the sterotype image that the audience would expect. This engages the target audience as they want to discover why Duke Durmont is not in his normal setting, so they will read the article on page 66. The image could also link to the idea of success, displayed by the suit and classy environment that the DJ is in. In addition to this the natural colours could suggest that the DJ does not see himself as famous yet and just as a regular person. This would engage the people that aspire to be like him, as he is reminding them that he to is till just a person. Also this idea that he is successful could link to those people in society that would be classed as 'The Succeders' (Young and Rubicams 4C's).

Date of the Issue:

This is an important part of the contents, even though it may not seem revelent. The date of the issue identifies how current the magazine is and it means that regular buyers can see if they have missed out in buying the previous issue.

Sub-Pages and Headers:

The first page has one main heading with lots of sub-pages underneath it. The main heading reads 'VIP' suggesting that everything underneath it is very important. Each sub-heading is bold and underneath each one is a very brief description about the article. For exam§ple one of the sub-headings-reads 'TICK 'EM OFF - The essential parties and gigs.' This is revlevent to the target audience, who are likely to go to parties and gigs. Also the use of the word 'essential' implies that the parties and gigs that they are mentioning are ones that the target audience 'need' to go to. Another sub heading titled 'RANT' is very attractive to the reader as a rant is usually seen a something that is contraveral. The line underneath reads 'Over-reacting DJ's: what are they really doing behind decks?' This quote gives you an insight into the lives of DJ's and what they get up to when they are not DJing. This is attractive to those that once again aspire to be a DJ.

On the second contents page the sub-headings have been divided up into four different catagories (Features, Fashion,Tunes and Don't Stay In). This information is less important but is still good for the target audience, as it's extra information for them. The 'Don't Stay In' heading is using a direct mode of address to make the audience feel as if the magazine is talking directly to the reader. The doube page contents allows the magazine to be very organized and therefore they will have a more proffessional look, which is appealing to the reader.

Masterhead:

On the masterhead of the contents page the same font that was used on the previous issue, has been used for the word 'CONTENTS.' This helps to maintain a consistent house style thoughout the magazine, which helps to retain a proffesional feel to the magazine.
