Classic Rock Magazine Double Page Spread Analysis:

Main Image:
The image covers two thirds of the double page spread and is in monochrome. The image seems to be set backstage at a concert or an arena, suggesting that the persons have just done a gig or are on their way to do one. The shot itself is a long-shot consisting of a medium-wide shot. This is done so that you can the photographer can capture the elements of the gritty corridor as well as the artists. The photographer has cleverly captured an authentic photograph. It hasn't been staged, they are just walking to the stage. The fact that the image is monochrome implies that the style of music is old and this is done so that the reader immediatly know what style of music they are reading about. The man at the front of the image appears to wearing a vest top with a spider on it and trousers. He is not wearing fancy cloths he is dressed normally. This is appealing to those young artists that would like to be a Rock Star (Uses and Gratification Model), as it reminds them that they are just normal people. The lack of clothing shown by the first artist is done because the stage at most gigs gets hot, so it's a way of keeping cool. He could be seen as attractive to some women as he is clearly athletic shown by he buff arms. The fact that he is at the front suggests to the reader that he is the leader of the band or that he is the most important person in the band. Half of his face is cast in shadow, meaning that the identity of the artist is being hidden, which immediatly creates an enigmatic atmosphere. The man behind him has no shadow on his face so you can see his identity. He is wearing a dark waist coat, a hat, belt, a tie and trousers. His clothes evoke a nostaligic feeling of the 80's and this is attractive to any of the readers that are fond of that particular time period. The walls are covered in graffiti and appear to be signatures. Seeing as it looks like they are in the tunnel, on their way to the stage, I would suggest that the graffiti has been done by the artists that have played at the arena.
Masterhead:
The mastehead reads 'SLAVE TO THE RHYTHM' and is written in a very skinny font, in terms of weight. The font itself is very rigid and structured. It is not like a normal font. Normal fonts are usually circular or at 90 degree angles. This font is different. It uses 45 degree angles. The idea of it being an alternative font to the conventional type could anchor the lifestyle of being a 'Rock Star.' The life of a 'Rock Star' can be very different to that of a normal person's. Underneath the masterhead there is small introductory paragraph that is used to entise the reader into to reading the article below it and it has been bolded to make it seen also. Again indicating that the editor wants it to be read.
Colour Scheme:
The colour scheme consists of two colours, black and white. This is done to give the reader a sense of nostalga and to make the magazine seem as if it a classic. The black and white colours are exaggerated for this effect and wish to take the reader back to the 80's when Rock music was at it's peak. Hence the name of the magazine 'Classic Rock.'
