Rock Magazine Contents Page Analysis:

Main Images:

There are four articles that are featured on this contents page. Each of the articles have an image backed behind it so that they stand out. Unfortunatly all of the images are the same size, so it is hard to determine which is the main contents image. In addition to this all of the font is the same size and has the same weight, so this adds to the difficulty of deciding what is the main image.

In each of the images the subjects are seen posing and dressed in a similar way to 'Rock Stars.' In the image seen in the top right, there is a man playing a guitar on a stage. He is dressed in a denim jacket and trousers. The article line reveals the name of the artist or 'Rock Star' which is is Upper Case text. Underneath is a brief description about the article and it reads 'The behind-the-scenes story of his Irish Tour '74.' The use of the words 'behind-the-scenes' implies that the information revealed is exclusive and that it is information that you would not normally know about. This attracts the reader to the article, as they want to discover this exclusive information.

Masterhead:

The masterhead consists of the magazine logo, a header (Contents) and the issue number. The magazine logo 'Classic Rock' is placed next to the header and is in the size font, so that it looks professional. It is however, a different colour (Red) compared to the header, which is in black. This makes it stand out more against the other text in the masterhead. The header (Contents) is the same font as the 'Classic Rock' logo.' This helps to maintain a consistent house style through the magazine. The issue number is also present on the masterhead. This is

an important  part of the magazine as it allows the reader to know what issue they are on and if they have missed an one.

Sub-Headings:

There are nine sub-headings under the heading that reads 'Regulars.' The title suggests that the the articles underneath are what the magazine normally covers. The new information is revealed by the four cover images and their cover lines. The target audience that buy the magazine regularily, know that any article lines that aren't on the right, are important articles. For example one of the sub-headings reads 'Buyer's Guide' and this is something that can be changed each month to display items that are move relevant etc. The regular readers will know that any good equipment etc will be here and that it will be worth buying. This is appealing to anyone who aspires to be like a 'Rock Star' as they can buy items that make them look like one and they can also discover what brands/items that they should be buying.

Colour Sceme:

The main colours used are black, red and white. As with the Hip-Hop magazine the black has been used to stand out against the white background and the red has been used to highlight the important pieces of information, like the page numbers.
