Typography:
Typography is the art /technique of arranging text so that it is appealing, readable and legible when displayed on a shelf.
House Magazine Font Analysis:
The font used here is very masculine and bold. It's not flat against the page, a drop shadow has been used to to bring the text off the page. The size of the text is very large, probably around font size 80. It's very rigid which supports this idea that the text is masculine.

Hip-Hop Magazine Font Analysis:
The font used for XXL is very basic as it uses simple letters that are clear and bold. The font variations are limited to 3 types on this particular magazine cover.
The XXL masterhead appears as though it is using the font 'Gill Sans Ultra Bold' or something or a similar variation and 'Inder Sans Serif' has been used for the cover lines. In terms of the main cover lines I couldn't really find an exact match for it but 'Impact' is similar to the font used for this.
As there is minimal text on the cover of the magazine, the text can be larger and are therefore easier to read and appear simple on the cover. The size of the font compensates for the font.
Another noticable fact about this particular magazine is that all of the text is in capitals except for the main cover line. This means that it stands out against all the other text because it is different. The added bonus of all the other text being in capitals means that it is easier to read on the shelf of the shop.
Rock Magazine Font Analysis:
The font used for Classic Rock is very large and easy to read. On the cover of this particular magazine 4 different fonts are being used.
The Classic Rock masterhead looks very similar to 'Popular Std (Non-Serif)' and other serif fonts. Maybe strokes were used to help achieve a bold look on the lettering. The main cover line appears to be written in 'Impact' that has been stretched slightly to make the text taller. Some artistic flicks have been added to the text aswell for stylise the font for the rock magzine. The other cover lines consist of a font called 'Kaiti SC Black'. This font has been used to draw attention to the smaller stories on the cover. Underneath this font, in each case, there is another bit of small writing written in 'Arial', which is simple and easy to read.
