The series, 'Love Letters' is a celebration of something that lives on in a perfect sense even after destruction. To create the series, Zhi revealed that he used alcohol as a flaming agent, as it burns very gracefully and creates blue flames. He also said that he took many photographs during the process of each flower being burnt as it was important to capture the different stages of beauty and deterioration.

In a recent interview Zhi revealed the concept behind the series....

"In ‘Love Letters’ the flower and fire co-exist glamorously together at the same time and there is no destruction, but only a process of transformation. The fire is as beautiful as the flower and the flower is also complete without defect - but of course, this is only temporal beauty."

He also said......

"Beautiful things and objects themselves will ultimately disappear, but the beauty itself will live on, as well as love. Perhaps this is what I am trying to express. This series of works is actually just that, a series of "Love Letters". Beauty, pain, transience and eternity, blossoming and wilting, passion and grace, dedication, giving and sacrifice ……These are all about love.” - Jiang Zhi
